The project "Cataloging Folklore Materials" aims to gather folklore materials preserved in Georgia's archival institutions and create a bilingual online catalog.
One of the biggest challenges of modern times is the lack of time. Often, we do not have the opportunity to visit an archive, spend hours working through catalogs, and, if we cannot find the desired material, move on to another archive.
Our project allows you to access the catalogs of various archival institutions without leaving your home. If you find the material you need, you can follow the provided information about the institution, learn about the access conditions, and visit the archive only when necessary to review the document of interest.
Our ambitious goal is to create a unified database of folklore archival materials across Georgia. The list of organizations featured on our website will continue to grow and will be updated annually.
The online catalog of folklore materials includes written documents from the 19th and 20th centuries on Georgian traditional music and choreography, as well as photographic, audio, and video materials.
The project is implemented by the Anzor Erkomaishvili State Folklore Center with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
